Session Description:

How does a 9 year-long project plan for and adopt technology during project delivery?  Recipient of Autodesk’s 2018 AEC Excellence Award, the University of Virginia Hospital Expansion Project began project planning in 2012, will finish in 2021, and has implemented a range of technologies in order to promote project collaboration and outreach.  This presentation will cover topics on the project’s use of BIM, communication technologies, document control, prefabrication, and client deliverables.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discover the benefits of each tool and how they affect a project’s budget and schedule.
  • Provide solutions that can help minimize disruptions to hospital operations during construction.
  • Identify which factors to consider when making the decision to use various technology.
  • Identify best practices when using each technology and apply lessons learned.

AIA Learning Credit CEUs will be offered.
