The City of Charlottesville is hosting a Stakeholder workshop on the Standards and Design Manual, scheduled for June 13, 2019 at the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission at 401 East Water Street from 5pm-8pm.

The updated spreadsheet of comments/responses has been posted to the city’s website:  Look for the last link on the page, starting with “RESPONSES”.

The agenda for next week’s workshop is below, and a timeline of the process to date is attached here (page 2 & 3).

New to this topic?  The City is currently undergoing a comprehensive update of the Standards And Design Manual (SADM).  The purpose of this update is to incorporate needed changes to align the manual with current City goals such as the Streets That Work Plan and other guiding principals. (City of Cville)

Why is this important?  Simply put, the devil is in the details…..The Standards and Design Manual impacts our community intentionally and unintentionally.  CADRe believes:

  • The Standards and Design Manual impacts our Open Space.
  • The Standards and Design Manual impacts our Density.
  • The Standards and Design Manual impacts our Housing Choices.
  • The Standards and Design Manual impacts our Environment.
  • The Standards and Design Manual impacts our Streetscapes.
  • The Standards and Design Manual impacts our Tree Cover.
  • The Standards and Design Manual impacts our Affordable Housing.
  • The Standards and Design Manual impacts Placemaking.

Please plan to attend.
